So, my mom may be incapable of working. I don't know. This week has been rough for the family. Maddie and my father are threatening my mom if she tries to talk to them, and I'm making a half-hearted effort at keeping the peace. My mom started work on Monday and lost the job yesterday. Things are worrying.
Two, Karl doesn't love me right now, so he's taking break from me. I get no say in this, it was either let it happen or break up over it. I'm pathetic. I'm waiting for him to call me up in a week saying "hey after this, let's break up anyway"
Three, my job is both not enough sustainable hours, and is maybe crushing my soul. My manager is an uppity Drexel student who is only a year or so older than me and has a real admiration for the way Starbucks sets up it's coffee shops. She might be a living nightmare brought on by the stress of finals, my mom, and my distant boyfriend.
The good part, living with Zach, who is a writer and who has started painting, is pretty decent motivation to continue to do artwork, though i need to muster up the focus for comics.
After being told to go home by Karl, i hung out with Eamon and his friend and ate ice cream, because i"m the kind of person willing to buy ice cream even when i'm surrounded by it 6 days a week. To be fair, we don't have pumpkin ice cream where i work.

So, i started working full time, i'm finishing school, moving to a place in South Philz with central air that's across from a diner, and getting ready to make comics all summer. EXCITING THINGS are happening.

On the one hand, i feel good about paying my missing union dues, and being in good standing. On the other, it never feels good to be out of 48 bucks.
I also just realized I have a final essay to write before Thursday. Blargh. But also school-related, am i glad to have landed in an anthro department filled with anthropologists of the cultural sorts who bring out the anti-badstuff-ism guns in every subject. Looking at works of other professors they are alarmingly pro-status quo. Science and humanities at their scariest!

It snowed today! Perfect fat floaty snowflakes that didn't stick to the ground at all. It was awesome! But it snowing already means it's going to be the worst winter ever in the history of ever. I'm not down. But at least my apartment is super nice and cozy warm.
That said, school is bustin my balls with all this essay writing crap. Other than that i'm attempting organizing myself enough to write an epic, personified history of my fair city and the country from 1890 on. Maybe sometime soon i will have something to show for it

So I went into the library today wanting to reread Persepolis. Well, they had the first book, so yay. And then I noticed James Sturm's America. And it's one of those things I always see in comic shops, think "this looks vaguely interesting", and then pass over. The title then reminds that maybe I should look over the US history section despite the millions books i'm currently reading, and sure enough i come out with the People's History of the American Revolution. And now I sit here wondering what in the world happened to my range of interests??
In other news, orchard after work tomorrow!
And there's a very pregnant little tabby in West Philly who i'm worried about. I want to take her to PAWS if I can get her. She has no problem laying in the middle of the sidewalk on her back so i don't think timidness will be an obstacle.
Man I don't do shit all day.

Why this weekend generally sucketh:
- I couldn't afford to go to SPX, which i was planning on going to for months.
- Karl and I aren't seeing eachother until (his) further notice. I feel like a child on time out. All guilt ridden and needing re-acceptance.
- Lost my transpass this morning walking to the El. Dammit.
Upside:
-Rad nudie mag from 1960 purchased at a flea market on my walk home from work.

I got sick while Kelly visited this past week! Which made me a shitty host. But I took her on tiny door tour. I'm seriously going to start a "TINY DOORS OF PHILADELPHIA: THE FIGHT FOR FREEDOM IS A TIGHT SQUEEZE" And it's going to be great and totally full of LIBERTY.
